Shortlist for Hublot Young Player 2021-22 (Premier League)
-
Trent Alexander-Arnold (LIV) P31 W22 D7 L2 G2 A12 CS17
In 2021/22, the Liverpool right-back dominated the right flank for the second-best defence in the Premier League, scoring two goals and setting up 12 others, the second-most of any player.
-
Phil Foden (MCI) P27 W20 D5 L2 G9 A5
Last season’s Hublot Young Player of the Season has already matched his nine goals and five assists from the previous season while playing a key role for league leaders Manchester City. Only two City forwards have played more minutes than the 21-year-old, who has gained Pep Guardiola’s confidence in all situations.
-
Conor Gallagher (CRY) P31 W19 D14 L8 G8 A3
On loan from Chelsea, the Crystal Palace midfielder has been one of the league’s top box-to-box midfielders, elevating his game after relegation with West Bromwich Albion last season.
-
Tyrick Mitchell (CRY) P33 W9 D13 L11 A2 CS9
This season, the 22-year-old has made more tackles than any other defender, proving difficult to beat for even the best Premier League wingers.
-
Mason Mount (CHE) P31 W17 D9 L5 G11 A10
Mount, 23, has been the club’s youngest player to reach double figures in both goals and assists in a Premier League season, following in the footsteps of club icons Frank Lampard, Didier Dogba, Juan Mata, and Eden Hazard.
-
Aaron Ramsdale (ARS) P32 W20 D3 L9 CS12 S86
In 31 games, the summer signing has 12 clean sheets. Some of his 86 saves were incredible, including one of the finest in Premier League history to keep James Maddison’s free-kick out at Leicester City.
-
Declan Rice (WHU) P34 W15 D7 L12 G1 A4
This season, West Ham United’s midfield general has improved dramatically. In a season he has refined his attacking play and has made the third most passes. He has the second most interceptions among midfielders, as well as leading the way in dribbles.
-
Bukayo Saka (ARS) P36 W21 D3 L12 G11 A6
Saka has led the charge for an Arsenal side targeting a top-four finish for the first time since 2015/16. At the age of just 20, he has 11 goals and six assists. He has shown remarkable grit in rebounding from a penalty shootout loss in the European Championship final last summer.
