Raiola was born in the south of Italy in 1967 and raised in the Netherlands after his parents relocated to Haarlem a year later. During his early twenties, he worked as a football agent for Sports Promotions and was engaged in agreements that brought numerous high-profile Dutch players to Serie A, including Wim Jonk and Dennis Bergkamp to Inter in 1993.
