The Meltwater Champions Chess Tour, also known as the Champions Chess Tour 2022, is a nine-month series of online chess tournaments in which some of the finest players in the world compete for a prize pool of US$1.6 million. From February 19, 2022, to November 20, 2022, the voyage will take place.
The Oslo Esports Cup, the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour’s first entirely in-person esports tournament, will wrap up the $1.6 million Meltwater Champions Chess Tour. The tournament will be held from April 22 to April 28 and will be the season’s first Major.

Every day for the next seven days, players will compete in one four-game round, with the winner being the one with the most points – and cash – altogether. From April 22 to 28, the season’s first Major, the third of nine Tour elite-level events, will take place.
The tournament will run from April 22 to April 28, with each day’s play starting at 12:00 ET (21:30 IST). The Oslo Esports Cup will mark the first time that the world’s largest and most renowned online chess tour has staged a fully in-person event from a single location, chess24.com’s dedicated broadcast studio. On April 26th, fans will be able to watch Round 5 matches beginning at 18:00 CEST.

Magnus Carlsen stepped up his game for the big occasion today, ending Pragg’s unbeaten streak to tie for first place in the Oslo Esports Cup. The World Champion overcame the challenge of the in-form Indian adolescent with a commanding 3-0 victory, despite suffering from illness since the start of the Meltwater Champions Chess Tour event. Carlsen snatched the maximum 3 points and $7,500 victory bonus with a game to spare to join Pragg on 9/12.
Liem Quang Le of Vietnam also won his match against Eric Hansen with a game to spare, posting two victories in a 2.5-0.5 victory. Jan-Krzysztof Duda, the World Cup winner from Poland, made a statement after defeating Shakrhiyar Mamedyarov in a tough match that went to tiebreaks. It was Duda’s third win in a row, moving him up to 7/12 in the standings.

Meltwater Champions Chess Tour Leg 3 Prize Money Pool Distribution
The Oslo Esports Cup will have a total prize pool of $210,000, with $7,500 going to the victor of each four-match round. If the match proceeds to a tie-breaker, the winner will be awarded $5000, while the loser will be awarded $2000.
Pragg has already won $10,000 in two tournaments at the age of sixteen. The teenager, though, has an opportunity to considerably enhance his prize pool by earning up to $7,500 for each round played in the Major.
