Van Heerden was injured by a well-timed right hand at the start of round two, and it was clear that the former IBO world champion would not recover. Benn kept going until he was able to knock Van Heerden out.
With yet another major test passed easily, Benn’s turn to step up is rapidly approaching. In the post-fight interview, Eddie Hearn mentioned Mikey Garcia and Kell Brook, both of whom would be a huge step up in level for Benn.
