An ongoing women’s tennis that was launched as the Federation Cup in 1963 in the account of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the International Tennis Federation. It was then changed to Fed Cup in 1995 and again changed to honor the former World No. 1 Billie Jean King as the world’s largest women’s international team sports competition organized annually.

The first day of the tournament saw World No. 1 Iga Swiatek winning to continue her winning streak to 18 matches. The Polish star has already won three WTA 1000 titles this season so far, namely, the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Masters, and Miami Open as most recent.  Meanwhile, US Open star Emma Raducanu also won her first professional clay-court match.

Russia is the most recent champion having won five total titles while the United States has the record for most titles owning 18 trophies. The US also holds the record of winning most titles consecutively clinching back-to-back seven titles from 1976 to 1982.

The Billie Jean King Cup 2022 Prize Money

The Billie Jean King Cup is a team tournament and not an individual so the prize money is distributed on a per-team basis. The prize money for the previous year was $6.8 million which was a round of the canceled 2020 tournament that counted $12 million.
