Ngimi Tenji Sherpa Dies In Everest Khumbu Icefall, Cause Of Death, News, Obituary, Age, Family, Career, Achievements

Ngimi Tenji Sherpa recently died at 4 am on the 14th of April 2022. He was carrying loads through the dangerous Khumbu Icefall 

Nima Tenji Sherpa who was just 38 years old, had summited Everest numerous times before also.

When this incident took place, at least 11 high-altitude workers from the IMG were shuttling loads at Camps 1 and 2.

38 year old Ngimi Tenji Sherpa collapsed from an unknown medical ailment and was found sitting just next to the trail still wearing his backpack. No fall, avalanche, or trauma had occurred till then but suddenly there and this incident took place near the so-called “football field”.

The other Sherpas carried his body down to Base Camp with the help of a helicopter.

Everest’s Khumbu Ice Fall

The Icefall Doctors Ang Sarki Sherpa, Dawa Nuru Sherpa, Pemba Tshering Sherpa, Sonam Tshering Sherpa, Chewang Nuru Sherpa, and Ngima Gyaljen Sherpa started fixing the route through the Khumbu Icefall on 20th March.

On 7th April, they finished their task, according to reports of the Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee. A Day before, Sherpas began shifting their gear through the Icefall to the higher camps.

A total of four ladders in the Icefall were there. Presently, five Sherpas were staying at Camp 2 of the 11, including Nima Tenji, who were transporting gears. Unfortunately, this is the second death within two days in the Himalayas.

Earlier this week, Antonios Sykaris perished on the Dhaulagiri, also at 4 am the local time. 250 foreign climbers also have permits for Mount Everest, and safety measures are being taken care of to prevent such incidents.

Nima Tenji Sherpa Professional Career, Family, And Achievements

Nima Tenji Sherpa was a climbing guide by profession. He was born in a Himalayan village known as Rolwaling to a Nepalese family. He was certified by Nepal National Mountain Guide Association. His family is in a state of shock as Tenji was quite young when he passed away.

He has been fortunate enough to climb Everest successfully 8 times. He has also climbed the French Alps, Pacific Northwest, and Alaska.
