The 2022 Betfred World Snooker Championship is a professional snooker competition that will be held at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, England, from April 16 to May 2, 2022. It will be the 46th World Snooker Championship to be contested at the venue. The World Snooker Tour hosts the tournament, which is the 16th and final ranking event of the 2021–22 snooker season.

2022 World Snooker Championship Tournament Schedule, Dates, Tickets And Venue

The tournament will take place at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, England with the final is slated for Monday, May 2nd. The same venue is hosting the World Snooker Championship for the 46th consecutive year. Tickets for the fixtures can be bought here.

The tournament matches will take place in the following manner:

  • April 16- April 21: First Round Matches
  • 21st April- 25th April: Second Round Matches
  • April 26- April 27: Quarter-final Matches
  • April 28- April 30: Semi-final Matches
  • May 1- May 2: Final

Tournament Format And Rules

The best of 19 frames will be present in the first round of the main draw, the best of 25 frames in the second round and quarter-finals, and the best of 33 frames in the semi-finals. The final will be a best-of-35-frames competition played over two days.

Kyren Wilson, the world No. 5, will face Ding Junhui, a 14-time ranking event winner who came through qualifying and reached the final in 2016, while three-time champion Mark Williams will face Michael White in an all-Welsh match. Yan Bingtao, the victor of the Masters last year, will face Chris Wakelin, who advanced through three qualifying matches.

Former champion Shaun Murphy, who reached the final last year, will face Stephen Maguire, who will be competing in the Crucible for the 19th time. Scott Donaldson, who crushed Allan Taylor 10-1 in the qualifications, will face Mark Allen, a past semi-finalist and newly crowned Northern Ireland Open champion.

Prize Money Pool Distribution

The tournament winner of Turkish Masters will receive £500,000 in prize money, while the losing finalist will receive 200,000 Pounds. The net prize pool of the tournament will be 2,395,000 Pounds.

A maximum break at the Crucible will earn one £40,000, while a maximum break in the qualifying stages will earn one £10,000. These bonuses are in addition to the £15,000 top prize for the highest break.
