The two-time Olympic sprinter died suddenly without any official cause being told and the whole field community went in shock but he is said to have been suffering from a prolonged illness. The finalist in the 100 metres sprint event at the 1988 Seoul Olympics left everyone in mourning.

Desai Williams Biography, Family, Achievements And Records 

Desai Williams was a former sprinter from Canada. Born in 1959 on June 12, he was aged 62. He was born into a family of seven children but there is no information of his own wife and children. His net worth stood at $1 million.

Williams had won a bronze medal in Olympics, in the 4 x 100 metres relay held in Los Angeles in the year 1984. The sprinter was from Basseterre, St. Kitts and Nevis.

Desai had advanced to the semifinals of the World Championships in the years 1983 and 1987. He also speed coached the Toronto Argonauts formerly and trained athletes like Tremaine Harris, Phylicia George and Justyn Warner as some of the names.

Desai Williams Controversies 

The Scarborough Optimists Track Club trained Willaims while it was affiliated with the Ben Johnson scandal. Ben is also a former sprinter from the same country who held the record of the fastest man in the world in 1987-88. Coach of the club Scarborough, Charlie Francis worked with Dr Jamie Astaphan a physician, had supplied drugs to Johnson Williams to enhance his performance. Tony Sharpe, Angella Taylor, and Mark McKoy are also some of the names that got supplied with performance-enhancing drugs by them.

Another controversy happened in the year 2015 when Williams was fired as the coach by Athletics Canada. It was founded by a probe that he had disobeyed the organisation’s sexual harassment policy while he was a coach five years back in the year 2010. Athletics Canada later in 2018 banned him for a lifetime.
