Prediction
The start of the tennis season for 2022 was not good for Andrey Rublev but the Russian bounced back later.
The first Grand Slam of the year went with an early departure for Rublev but into the next event at Rotterdam, he reached the semifinals of the tournament before losing to Felix Auger-Aliassime.
Rublev then reached the final of the Open 13 in both the categories, singles and doubles where he lost to the Canadian, Auger-Aliassime again but clinched the doubles title with his partner Denys Molchanov defeating Ben McLachlan and Raven Klaasen. The Russian got motivated and continued his excellent form since then to win the Dubai Tennis Championships defeating Jiri Vesely. At the BNP Paribas Open, he progressed to the last four but lost to the winner of the tournament Taylor Fritz.
The Russian also reached the quarters of the Indian Wells in doubles. Rublev then had a disappointing Miami Open as it didn’t go as it was expected following his Round of 64 exit against Nick Kyrgios but despite that, looking at his form later, he is one of the favourites to go ahead.
Despite Minaur having experience over the World No. 8 player, Rublev is expected to continue his good form in Monte Carlo who has won 18 of 22 matches this season. The player from Russia has some good results on clay and his experience on that can help him dominate Minaur. His intensity will be not so easy to cop up for the Australian.
Andrey Rublev: 3/10
Alex de Minaur: 11/4
