The legislation states, “In considering point 36.1.3, if the ball makes simultaneous contact with the striker’s person and bat, the ball shall be regarded to have first contacted the bat.” In the case of Kohli’s dismissal, it was clear that the ball did not touch the pad before making contact with the bat. As a result, the judgement should have gone in Kohli’s favour under MCC rules.
