And he ended up deciding the tie with his hattrick all but sealing the double header as Real Madrid walked away with a 3-1 triumph on Wednesday night. The three goals also saw Benzema reached the 10 goal mark in the marquee tournament this season with him becoming the fourth time all time leading scorer in the Champions League.
However, despite the electric season he’s enduring, Benzema has failed to win over Micah Richards. One of the many bemusing football experts in the UK, Richards had last month gone viral after talking about Benzema’s hattrick against PSG in the round of 16.
Richards who had previously spoken about how he didn’t believe the French striker was on the same level as Harry Kane had after his hattrick said he was now convinced Benzema was on Kane’s level, a comment which left Thierry Henry flabbergasted.
A shocked Thierry Henry replied by asking: “Just now?”
Richards continued with his school of thought saying: “Of late, in the last six months.
“He’s convinced that he’s up there with Harry Kane and Robert Lewandowski.”
Henry added: “Wow. Just tonight?!” To which Richards replied: “Last six months.”
