The highly anticipated FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 Final Draw will take place on Friday at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center in Qatar, know its date and time
According to the procedures of the FIFA Competitions Organising Committee, 28 pre-qualified teams will be assigned to pots 1 through 4 based on the FIFA Men’s World Ranking announced on March 31, 2022. Qatar will take position A1 from Pot 1 as hosts, with the seven highest-ranked qualified teams from the FIFA Men’s World Ranking joining them.

The countries ranked 8-15 in the qualified teams’ ranking will be assigned to Pot 2, while the 16th-23rd best-ranked qualifiers will be sent to Pot 3. Finally, the qualified teams in positions 24 to 28 will be joined by three placeholders representing the two intercontinental play-off winners and the remaining UEFA play-off winner in Pot 4. What is the procedure for the FIFA World Cup draw?
The following is the official FIFA World Cup Draw method for the year 2022:
- Step 1 — Team: Starting with Pot 1 and concluding with Pot 4, a team name will be picked at random from each pot. Before going on to the next pot, the previous one is emptied.
- Step 2 — Group: The first team picked from each pot is placed in Group A, the second team in Group B, and so on until all of the teams have been placed in Group H. If a geographic constraint (see below) prevents a team from joining a group, it is simply inserted into the next group. The empty spot in the group will be filled by the next team drawn.
- Step 3 — Group Slot: All Pot 1 teams will be assigned to the first group slot (Ex. A1, B1, C1, etc.). A ball will be picked at random to determine a nation’s group slot in the other pots (Ex. A2, A3 or A4). What is the significance of a group slot? It controls the order of matches, thus it’s critical that it’s chosen at random.
Geographic restrictions
With the exception of Europe, teams from the same region cannot be placed in the same group. Because there are 13 European teams in the draw and only eight groups (A-H), each group can only have two European nations. If a geographic conflict arises, the drawn team is simply transferred to the next group in the sequence. The next country drawn would go back and fill in the group that was bypassed.
