The day of November 16, 2021, proved to be a watershed moment in Abhinav Manohar Sadarangani’s career. In the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, the right-hand batsman made his Karnataka debut, smashing a 49-ball 70 against Saurashtra, including two fours and six sixes.
Manohar made an impression on the event by scoring 162 runs at a strike rate of 150 in four innings. His efforts were rewarded when he was invited to participate in selection trials for at least a half-dozen franchises.
Gujarat Titans paid Rs 2.6 crore for the right-handed batsman, which was 13 times more than his base price. The bidding began with Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals. When the competition surpassed the Rs 1 crore threshold, Gujarat Titans entered the fight. Gujarat pipped Kolkata to sign the rookie after Delhi Capitals opted out.
