ISL Developmental League 2022 Schedule, Dates, Teams, Format, Players Eligibility And Venue
The Indian Super League has created its inaugural ‘Developmental League,’ which aims to provide a platform for young footballers to display their talent and compete on a regular basis at a high level. The first season of the league will be held in South Goa, using three venues. Three different training sites have been created for the teams.
Teams To Participate
Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, Jamshedpur FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Mumbai City FC, and Hyderabad FC will also have reserve sides competing in the competition. SC East Bengal, North East United FC, and Odisha FC have yet to confirm their participation in the developing league for this season but, they are likely to opt out.
Apart from the ISL clubs, Reliance Foundation Young Champs will also compete in the competition, according to club sources. RFYC has done remarkably well since opening their academy in 2015, and they have grown to become one of India’s greatest academies. RFYC has advanced step by step in recent years, and the first class of RFYC graduates generated as many as 7 graduates who were offered professional contracts by ISL teams in 2020. Some examples are Muhammad Nemil (FC Goa), Thoi Singh (Bengaluru FC), and Ayush Chikara (Mumbai City).
Date And Venues
The event will begin on April 15th and end on May 20th, 2022.
Teams must arrive on April 12th, 2022, with training sites becoming accessible over the next two days. While the infamous bio-bubble will not be used as it was in the previous two ISL seasons, Rapid Antigen Testing will be used on matchdays, and teams will be required to undertake PCR testing before to travel.
The ISL Developmental League, which will be played in a Round-Robin style, will begin on April 15th at 1PJN Stadium Fatorda, GMC Athletic Stadium, Bambolim, and Tilak Maidan, Goa.
The three ISL sites are Developmental League venues.
Players’ Eligibility
To be considered for the squad, players must have been born on or after January 1, 2001. The squad can, however, comprise up to 5 players born on or after January 1, 1999, with a maximum of 3 in the starting XI at any given moment. The squad will consist of 18 to 24 players.
Players must also be registered with their club in the AIFF CRM, since the league will be run via the AIFF CRS.
The Developmental League’s Format Is As Follows:
A single Round-Robin style will be used for the tournament, with each team playing eight games. Every matchday will be given a minimum of two days of respite, and halfway through the league, a four-day break with no matches will be offered.
Each round, one team will rest, and the top two teams at the conclusion of the eight games will advance to the next stage of the competition. During the 90-minute span of play, 5 replacements are allowed.
On March 30, 2022, clubs must confirm their accommodations and submit their squad and staff roster.
