The first public beta for Overwatch 2 will begin on April 26th, the developers announced this week during a stream in the latest release date update
This announcement comes just over a week after Blizzard revealed the beta’s plans, saying it would first hold an alpha for a select group of people before broadening the pool in the beta. Signups for the beta are still open, so if you want to participate, now is the time to express your interest.

You can sign up for the beta here on the Overwatch website, but as with most betas and other tests, signing up doesn’t guarantee admission. Jon Spector, the commercial lead on Overwatch 2, stated that the team was “blown away” by the number of signups they’ve already received, as indicated by the fact that the signup page went down shortly after it went live due to the large number of people attempting to access it at the same time with beta 2 set to drop on April 26.
The alpha was limited to Blizzard employees, Overwatch League pros, and a “small handful of others,” which included family or close friends of the Blizzard devs, so you didn’t miss out unless you fit into one of those three categories.
How To Get Accpeted For Overwatch 2 Beta Testing
The beta page has been updated with a FAQ to answer any questions that people may have before participating in the test. You do need a copy of the original Overwatch to play, which is probably not a big deal, but as you might expect, this beta is only available on the PC platform. There’s no word on how many players will be invited to participate, but you’ll know if you’ve been selected if you receive emails saying so. “Battle.net region, when you signed up, and your computer hardware specifications” are among the factors considered for acceptance, according to Blizzard.

Surprisingly, Overwatch 2 can be pre-ordered. Overwatch 2 pre-orders are now being accepted by the UK retailer GAME.
