Fan Zhendong and Ma Long produced another remarkable encounter in a rematch of last year’s Olympic Games final in Tokyo. Fan took the first two games to take command of the match, but Ma took the next three to take the lead. Ma had a 6-1 lead in the sixth game and appeared to be on his way to triumph, but Fan fought back to force a tiebreaker and then held his nerve to win 11-6, 11-6, 6-11, 9-11, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7.
Chen Meng survived a spectacular fightback from Wang in the WTT Grand Smash Singapore women’s singles final, which was just as dramatic. Chen appeared to be on her way to victory when she seized a two-game lead and only needed one more game to win. Wang won the following two games to tie the match at 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8, 6-11, 9-11, 11-8 before Chen won 11-9, 8-11, 11-9, 11-9, 11-8, 6-11, 9-11, 11-8.

WTT Grand Smash Singapore 2022 Format and Prize Money Pool Distribution
The first-ever WTT Grand Smash took place in Singapore, ushering in a new era for professional table tennis. Grand Smashes are the most prestigious events in the WTT, and winning one is the goal of every table tennis player. The table tennis community witnessed all of World Table Tennis’ innovations in a world-class event with engaging fan-centric programming for two weeks.
The Singapore Smash was the first of four new professional table tennis pillars to emerge. Fans were treated to two weeks of thrilling knockout elimination table tennis action, with singles, doubles, and mixed doubles divisions, as players battle for the highest prize pool ever seen at an officially sanctioned table tennis event: USD2,000,000.
The main draw for the event took place from March 11 to March 20, 2022 and featured a 64-player draw for men’s and women’s singles, a 24-pair draw for men’s and women’s doubles, and a 16-pair draw for mixed doubles. From the 7th to the 9th of March, a 64-Draw qualification round preceded the Singles events. 2,000 ITTF Table Tennis World Ranking Points will be awarded to all champions.
