The Kerala Film Festival 2022 will be held over eight days from March 18 to 25 in the city of Thiruvananthapuram, know more about the dates and registration

It was declared open by Saji Cherian who is Minister of Cultural Affairs.

The 26th edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), which was later postponed due to an increase in the COVID-19 cases will be held in 2022.

Thiruvananthapuram is hosting the festival for several years and then was replicated in many other regions. Moreover, there was little opposition which was over holding the festival in other places from several sections of people in the capital.

The Kerala Film Festival was inaugurated on the evening of the 18th of March by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan at the Nishagandhi Auditorium. It was inaugurated the same way before the pandemic as well. From 18th March to 25th of March 2022 these film festivities will continue.

People can only enjoy the screenings of their favorite movies through reservation. However, movies without reservations can be screened at the Nishagandhi Theatre on 18th and 25th March 2022. If the availability of seats is there then the booking of the seats can be done till the start of the screening on all days.

Kerala Film Festival’s Films

Over 180 films will be screened across 14 movie theatres in the Thiruvananthapuram. All the usual categories including Asian, African, and Latin American movies will be included. The other categories are world cinema, Malayalam cinema today, the great Indian cinema, and a lot many others.

A retrospective will also be part of this package, commemorating the contributions of legendary Malayalam actor, Nedumudi Venu, who died last year. Movies selected in the competition category were declared before the start of the festival. Malayalam films Nishiddo and Aavasavyooham, Tamil movies Koozhangal, and the Hindi and Kashmiri film Be Ches Ne Veth will also be showcased.

There will also be a very unique package called the ‘Films from the Conflicted’ to showcase films made in places of conflict all around the world. It will contain movies that are made in Afghanistan, Burma, and Khurdistan.
