The German Open in 2022 is the fourth tournament on the BWF World Tour, and it is a part of the German Open championships, which have been conducted since 1955. The German Badminton Association is hosting the competition, which is sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation.

Lakshya Sen got off to a strong start in the match, winning the first game 21-13 in just 19 minutes. Soon after, World No. 1 and defending Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen stepped up and took the lead in the second set, winning 21-12.
However, both Sen and Axelsen pushed each other in the decisive set before Lakshya made a dramatic comeback in the last stages of the game to defeat Axelsen, 21-13, 12-21, 22-20.
Not only has Lakshya advanced to the finals, but he has also achieved his biggest career triumph by upsetting the World No. 1 player for the first match in his career. Lakshya will compete for the BWF German Open Men’s Single title against Thai sensation Kunlavut Vitditsarn.
Kunlavut Vitditsarn stunned world number five Lee Zii Jia with a dominant performance and won the match in straight sets with a score of 21-13, 21-12
