For IPL 2022, The BCCI Has Changed The Names Of The Orange And Purple Caps
In IPL 2022, the prizes for top run-scorer and leading wicket-taker of the season will be renamed.
The 2018 season of the Indian Premier League is expected to be a big one, with 10 clubs and 74 matches. It is being dubbed the largest season in IPL history, and it appears to be having the same effect on the league’s finances. According to sources, the BCCI has sold all of its sponsorship spots for the very first time since the event began in 2008.
Many sponsors have partnered with the league throughout the years and earned significant rewards. The IPL has steadily improved, as seen by the types of deals and sums of money spent by businesses to join the league. This time, though, things have reached a whole new level.
As a result of sponsorship, the IPL earns close to INR 1000 crore
TATA replaced VIVO as the league’s official title sponsor for a rumoured sum of INR 335 crore each season. Since then, numerous companies have joined as official partners, including Rupay (INR 75 crore per year) and Swiggy (INR 65 crore per year).
For the first time ever, a sponsor has obtained the rights to the orange cap (given to the season’s top run-scorer) and purple cap (issued to the season’s leading run-scorer) (awarded to the leading wicket-taker of season). According to journalist K Shriniwas Rao, Saudi oil major Aramco has been awarded the contract of INR 65 crore per year.
