In a recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience, Joe Rogan and Jimmy ‘MrBeast’ Donaldson went off on TikTok (JRE)
The app has been dubbed “invasive, addicting, and sketchy,” with users accusing it of spying on them throughout their daily lives.
In the YouTube community, MrBeast is a YouTube legend. The platform has been conquered by the prolific 23-year-old content wizard, who has a comfortable 91.5 million subscribers and billions of views across his channel of videos and programmes. He has one of the most popular YouTube channels, so he knows a thing or two about social media success.
Joe Rogan And MrBeast Hit Out At TikTok
Joe Rogan and MrBeast discuss this and other topics on the March 7 episode of the Spotify-hosted JRE. Dissecting his massive popularity and whether success on YouTube translates to success on other platforms.
During this discussion, MrBeast stated that his focus is fairly clear: “90% of my work goes into YouTube, 1-2% is TikTok,” he explained.
Joe Rogan responded that he does not have a deliberate presence on TikTok, but that it is something he may consider doing in the future. “I suppose at some point I should step in and do something on Tik Tok.” But TikTok is such a dubious f***ing app.”
Let loose on the subject, Rogan and Jimmy traded stories about how they felt about the app’s alleged open door into the backend of your phone.
“Have you ever seen the breakdown these software engineers did on TikTok?” Rogan inquired. How intrusive is it?”
To clarify, he stated that engineers declared it to be “the single most disturbing piece of software they’ve ever had to engineer, because of the amount of cross-platform spying it does.”
MrBeast provided anecdotal evidence of his TikTok experience, claiming that the app has been listening in on his conversations throughout the day.
“I’ve had instances where I’d say certain things in conversations and then later that night I’d get something similar in my feed,” he explained. “Like if I talk a lot about dogs and then strangely start getting TikToks about dogs.” “I’ve noticed that sort of thing.”
MrBeast went on to say that TikTok will always know where he is as he travels. “If you travel to a different part of the country, like even now in Texas, like my TikTok feed will be a lot more Texas content, it’s definitely location-based,” he said.
Jimmy concluded his thoughts on the app by stating that he had deleted the app from his phone, but not for security reasons.
“TikTok can be quite addictive; I recently uninstalled it because… Despite the fact that my TikTok is mostly about gym and finance stuff. When I realised I was spending two hours a day on TikTok, I uninstalled it.”
