Djeison Rafael is a Birmingham resident who was recently accused of murdering a 34-year-old woman named Katie Fox. The attack took place shortly before 9 p.m. on November 7, when Rafael stabbed Fox in the neck on Smallbrook Queensway. Following the attack, authorities eventually managed to arrest him, and Djeison recently appeared at Birmingham Crown Court via video link from HMP Long Lartin.

During the brief 15-minute hearing before Judge Simon Drew KC, Rafael appeared dressed in a grey jumper and only confirmed his name. The judge has since scheduled the next hearing for January 16, with Rafael expected to enter his plea. Meanwhile, Katie Fox’s family issued a heartfelt statement, describing her as “a shining light” and “a beautiful and kind soul.” In the statement, they also thanked paramedics, police officers, and hospital staff for their efforts.
