Football simulator UFL kicks off a new season: new update, new ambassadors, new game

Based on player feedback, UFL has simplified the game’s meta and significantly reworked gameplay

  • Update 0.67 will launch on September 12, starting the new in-game season
  • UFL welcomes new ambassadors: Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde and Barcelona winger Raphinha
  • In nine months of operation, UFL has registered 5.3 million players worldwide

September 9, 2025 — Free-to-play football simulator UFL will launch its major 0.67 update on September 12 at 07:00-10:00 UTC, marking the start of the 2025/26 in-game season.

In the nine months since its release, UFL has registered 5.3 million players worldwide. The United States, Brazil, the United Kingdom, France, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, Spain, and Turkey are currently the top ten countries by player base.

From the beginning, UFL positioned itself as a community-driven project: a football game available for free to anyone in the world that develops and evolves through regular updates inspired by feedback and gameplay analytics. After analyzing the most common pain points raised by players, the developers decided to re-work the meta.

With update 0.67, UFL is making a global shift in its core meta, starting with the introduction of player cards as the new foundation of team building. The previous system proved overly complex: players could only be acquired on the transfer market at fixed prices and then upgraded through skins and experience, changing their stats over time.

That complicated upgrade path is being replaced with a simpler and more transparent model. Every card now comes with fixed attributes, and squad progression depends on acquiring new cards rather than modifying old ones. Clubs are created with base cards, which can be obtained from packs or purchased on the Transfer Market (now at prices five times lower than before). Higher-tier Mastery cards are also available through packs.

Mastery levels introduce extra mechanics, such as Link-Up — which connects players by Play Style, Nationality, and League — as well as new skills and rare collectible content. Importantly, all club progress and player-owned assets are preserved, with existing skins seamlessly converted into cards while keeping their bonuses under the new system. This restructured meta makes UFL both more straightforward for newcomers and strategically richer for experienced managers.

The UFL ambassador roster expands with the addition of Federico Valverde and Raphinha. Both represent world-class South American football talent playing for leading European clubs. Admired by the UFL community across both continents, they make ideal figures to unite fans on both sides of the Atlantic.

For the very first time, the game will introduce Legends — iconic players who defined their era. A new Legend will be revealed each month with each Team Pass, starting with the first announcement on September 12.

The new season will also feature a range of special events. In September and October 2025, players will see the introduction of the Team Pass in partnership with adidas.
