Earlier, reports emerged claiming that a man who was a crew member of the Royal Caribbean cruise ship allegedly jumped of the ship after stabbing his co-worker.

As per media reports, a 35-year-old South African man, whose identity is yet to be revealed, was working on the Royal Caribbean ship, when he stabbed a 28 year old South African female co-worker allegedly “multiple times,” before jumping to his death from the cruise ship.
The woman has stab wounds to her upper body but is in a stable condition after she was airlifted to a Miami Hospital. However, the man who was found after 30 minutes was found dead.
The incident took place on Thursday just before 7.30 a.m. near San Salvador Island. As per the Royal Bahamas police officials, the unidentified man immediately after stabbing the 28-year-old woman jumped off the ship. While the identities of both the people isn’t known yet, the woman is believed to be the girlfriend of the dead crew member and police have said prior to jumping overboard, the woman was “stabbed multiple times aboard the Icon of the Seas cruise ship”. The man then fled the scene, and jumped overboard to his death.

Later, he was rescued by the staff and was declared dead by onboard medical staff. Reportedly, the victim suffered multiple stabbed wounds on her upper body. Though, she was treated quickly and is currently out of danger.
At the time of writing this article, it is not clear what prompted the incident, nor the motive behind stabbing has been identified by the authorities. Though, media reports claim that the representative of the Royal Caribbean described the incident as “personal dispute.”

An investigation in the matter is ongoing and an autopsy of the suspect has been scheduled. As of now, the Bahamas police officials haven’t publicly declared the identity of the crew members. Meanwhile, although the Royal Caribbean released a statement regarding the incident, they also held the identity of the involved crew members.

What Did the Royal Caribbean Representative Say?
A spokesperson of the Royal Caribbean earlier told the media that their crew members immediately went ahead and did a search operation after they saw the suspect trying to flee the scene and jumping off the sea.
In addition, the representative of Royal Caribbean while offering his condolences to the deceased’s family and loved ones revealed that when they found the man, he was brought over the ship and declared dead by the medical staff.
Furthermore, the representative can be heard saying that they don’t have any other additional information as they want to respect the privacy of the deceased’s family. When the incident took place the cruise ship was returning to Bahamas from Miami.
