Due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in the Netherlands, particularly the extremely contagious omicron type of the infection, the Dutch women’s hockey team has withdrawn from back-to-back FIH Pro League matches against India scheduled for Bhubaneswar on February 19 and 20.
The Royal Dutch Hockey Association (KNHB) has requested that the matches be postponed to a later date by the International Hockey Federation (FIH). However, Hockey India expressed surprise at the Dutch team’s withdrawal on Thursday.
Format And Rules Of FIH Womenโs Pro Hockey League 2021-22
The format of the Women’s FIH Pro Hockey League is the same as that of the Men’s PHL. The nine teams will compete in a round-robin, home-and-away style. The top team in the points table will be proclaimed the champion after each team has played a total of 16 matches.
FIH Womenโs Pro Hockey League 2022 Results and Score
In the Belgium vs Argentina match, Argentina defeated Belgium 3-1 with goals from Gorzelany in the 37′, 43′, 59′ minute mark. Belgium had scored the first goal of the match but after that, they were nowhere near the goal and were forced to defend their goal which was penetrated by Argentina thrice. The sole goal scorer for Belgium was Breyne who scored in the 11′ minute and gave a good start that became stagnant, for Argentina.
