For the information enthusiasts, the meme came into the spotlight after a clip on the video-sharing platform, TikTok went viral in 2024. The viral clip featured B.O.B. with two eyes, instantly striking viewers with curiosity.
Later, the meme gained traction on X/Twitter in February and March 2025. The meme is used to express a situation when someone has ‘no words’ to describe something, when someone doesn’t know how to react to a particular thing or when someone is in shock or confusion.

Tracing the origin of the meme, we got to know the fact that the B.O.B. Staring meme was initially available as a GIF on TikTok. The GIF, showcasing B.O.B. staring blankly alongside a number of laughing emojis was initially posted a user named ‘Big_Bob228icq’ on the clip-sharing platform in December, 2023. Later, another platform user re-shared the GIF as a meme in May, 2024.
The re-shared clip of the meme read, “Old people went [to] the card reader says ‘remove card.’” The video instantly garnered attention and attracted as much as more than 4 million views and 700,000 likes in a year.
Later, the trend grabbed the attention of reel-sharing platform Instagram as users hoped on the trend after an Instagram page titled ‘Memesforjesus’ posted a version of it. This video attracted more than 8,000 likes in a year.
Eventually, the meme died down by November, 2024, however it once again gained the attention of online users in 2025 after a user shared the meme on X/Twitter with the intention of expressing his reaction to whatever’s happening in their life.
