While authorities have managed to successfully recaptured eight of the ten escapees, Antoine Massey and Derrick Groves remain at large.
Two weeks after he and nine other inmates at the New Orleans jail squeezed through a hole in the wall and fled on May 16, only 32-year-old Massey and 27-year-old Derrick Groves are still on the run.
Antoine Massey’s criminal record includes a nearly 20-year history of escapes from juvenile detention, adult jail and electronic monitoring systems.
Massey awaits trial in New Orleans for domestic abuse and theft of motor vehicle, and he’s wanted for a r*pe and kidnapping in St. Tammany Parish.
Derrick Groves remains on the run
Authorities are currently on the lookout for Derrick Groves, who is one of the inmates that escaped the Orleans Justice Center on May 16. Derrick escaped alongside nine other inmates, which authorities caught on surveillance cameras at around 1 a.m. The incident sparked an immediate and ongoing search, where police managed to capture eight of the inmates.

Age 27 Derrick Groves is one of the inmates on the run after escaping Orleans Parish jail. While there is little to no public information available about Groves’ early life, sources claim that he is the grandson of Kim Groves. Kim Groves was a woman who was killed by a corrupt NOPD officer in 1994, which shocked the entire of New Orleans.
Groves was awaiting a life sentence after being convicted of two counts of second-degree murder and pleading guilty to two counts of manslaughter. His charges stem from a pair of shootings, including a 2018 Mardi Gras double homicide and he was scheduled to be sentenced this July.
He is the grandson of Kim Groves, a woman whose 1994 murder was ordered by corrupt NOPD officer Len Davis and Davis remains on federal death row, though his sentence was commuted to life without parole in 2024.
Jasmine Groves, the aunt of Derrick Groves, said she wants her nephew to turn himself in and also revealed his mom was taken in by the police against her will after they arrived at her home for questioning.

Derrick Groves was previously convicted on three counts of attempted second-degree murder back in October 2024. After being imprisoned for several months, he escaped from jail just over a week ago. According to reports, Derrick Groves’s grandmother was murdered by a dirty cop. After he grew up, Derrick found the cop’s family and killed them, which led him to getting convicted. Although the exact details are unknown, Derrick Groves also has a prior criminal record which includes several offenses.
FBI issues rewards
The FBI are reportedly offering a reward worth $20,000 for anyone who gives any information that would lead to the capture of Derrick Groves and Antoine Massey. Officials have also urged anyone with tips to call 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit information online at fbi.gov/neworleansfugitives.
