Angelo Mathews, the outstanding all-rounder for Sri Lanka, declared his retirement from Test cricket on Friday. He stated that his last outing in this format will be in the opening Test of the forthcoming two-match series against Bangladesh next month. Mathews used his official social media account to inform his friends and followers of this important choice.
With an average of 44.62, Mathews, who proudly played for Sri Lanka in 118 Test matches, has amassed an outstanding 8,167 runs, including 16 hundreds and 45 fifties. He is only 13 runs away from overtaking Virat Kohli on the list for “batters with the most Test runs at home” as he prepares for what will be his final Test match against Bangladesh on June 17.

Heshanie was a talented badminton player in her younger years, competing in national tournaments, including Sri Lanka’s under-19 badminton leagues. She even achieved a noteworthy national ranking, placing eighth in the rankings for badminton.

Heshanie’s mother is Shyama Silva, while her father, Prasanna Silva, works in the construction industry. Shenali Silva is her younger sister, and Prashani is her older sister.

Sri Lanka’s President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa served as the attesting witnesses to the couple’s marriage which made Mathews only the second Christian Sri Lankan cricketer to get married.
Fr. Sunil De Silva, parish priest of St. Mary’s Church had revealed that Mathew is an alumnus of St. Joseph’s College and hails from a “devout practicing Catholic family” in the “strong” Catholic belt of Vattala.
Angelo Mathews and his wife Heshani Silva have four children: one son and three daughters. While Heshani’s DOB isn’t known, she is aged between 30-40 years while her husband Angelo who has a net worth of $5 million is aged 37.

At the Police Park Ground in Colombo in September 2005, Mathews made his List A debut for Sri Lanka Under-23 against New Zealand A. During the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka, he captained the Sri Lankan cricket squad. Later, in November 2006, he made his Colombo Cricket Club first-class debut.
