Taiwo Awoniyi put under induced coma

Nottingham Forest star striker Taiwo Awoniyi is currently under an induced coma after doctors performed a complex surgery to save his life. According to reports, doctors had to put him under an induced coma to stabilize his condition and manage stress on his body. Doctors will reportedly proceed with a second surgery as his health progresses, following which they will gradually bring him out of the coma.

It all started following an incident during Forest’s 2-2 draw against Leicester City in the Premier League. During the later part of the game, Awoniyi collided with the goalpost in an attempt to score. After some difficulty, he initially signaled that he could continue, but his condition became severe and he had to be eventually substituted. The incident left players and fans in shock and triggered a tense moment at the City Ground.

In response, club owner Evangelos Marinakis even rushed to the pitch out of deep concern over Awoniyi’s condition. While his actions stirred speculation of a clash with manager Nuno Espírito Santo, the club has denied any confrontation.
