The nepotism debate has been rekindled by the Bollywood debut of Ahaan Panday in YRF’s upcoming film Saiyaara.
Netizens were disappointed and asked a number of questions on Tuesday, only hours after it was revealed that Ananya Panday’s cousin Ahaan Panday will be making his acting debut in Mohit Suri’s next movie.
Netizens questioned whether Bollywood is only producing films to introduce starkids and not for the amusement of the public in their comments on the film’s official announcement post. Others urged producers to give outsiders a chance as well, while others criticized Ahaan’s opportunity to make his feature debut with YRF as unjust.

On December 23, 1997, Ahaan Panday was born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India and is 5ft 10in tall.
Ahaan Panday is the son of fitness expert Deanne Panday and businessman Chikki Panday and his sister Alanna Panday is a content creator. While he was previously linked to Palak Tiwari, he is currently single and unmarried.
Ahaan completed his schooling at the Oberoi International School in Mumbai and went on to graduate from the University of Mumbai.
His cousin is the Bollywood actress Ananya Panday and he is the nephew of Chunky Panday as he is the son of Chunky’s brother Chikki Panday and this makes him the son of Ananya’s uncle and Ananya’s cousin. Aloke Sharad Panday, better known as Chikki Panday, is a businessman based in Mumbai and he along with Ranjeet Deshmukh, co-founded the ‘Akshara Foundation of Arts & Learning’ which works towards providing education to under privileged children.
Ahaan Panday graduated from the University of Mumbai after completing his elementary education at Mumbai’s Oberoi International School. According to reports, he was an assistant director on the films Rock On 2 (2016), The Railway Men (2023), and Freaky Ali (2016).

YRF offered Ahaan Panday the lead in a superhero movie with Ajay Devgn playing the adversary before he signed him for Saiyaara. But the director of Shiv Rawail returned to the drawing board. The movie was reportedly slated to be included in the 2020 YRF50 slate announcement. The superhero movie was supposed to be a series with several spin-offs and planned sequels.
The latest buzz in Bollywood is all about Saiyaara, a film that has everyone talking, particularly about its main performers, Aneet Padda and Ahaan Panday. Saiyaara, which was directed by Mohit Suri, is scheduled to open in theatres on July 18, 2025. Of course, there is usually a mix of praise and criticism for any major Bollywood debut.
