In a timely response, Torii’s team defended the dish’s ingredients in the comment area. They explained that the iodine test does not determine the validity of paneer; it merely indicates the presence of starch.

On Instagram, Sarthak Sachdeva has 520K followers. He is a well-known influencer and YouTuber. While his DOB and height isn’t known, he is aged between 20-30 years. Nothing is know about his personal life.

YouTuber Sarthak Sachdeva embarked on a somewhat surprising culinary study in his most recent video, looking for adulteration in paneer served in restaurants owned by celebrities. With a vial of iodine tincture in hand, he navigated some of Mumbai’s most upscale locations, such as Shilpa Shetty’s Bastian and Virat Kohli’s One8 Commune.

The paneer turned black on contact with iodine, leading Sarthak to declare in disbelief, “Shah Rukh Khan ke restaurant mein paneer nakli tha. Ye dekh ke mere toh hosh udd gaye the!” The moment has since gone viral, with viewers just as stunned as he was.

Response from netizens

Diverse responses swiftly flooded the comment area. In jest, one viewer inquired about Sarthak’s expenditures at each posh location. Using heart emojis and the words, “This guy’s concept is evolving daily,” another user commended his initiative and inventiveness. Another humorous commentator added, “Stop watching YouTube and become a scientist!”

In a previous interview with media, Dr. Kiran Soni, the head of Nutrition and Health at Yatharth Hospital in Greater Noida, offered his thoughts on the subject. Although the iodine test can detect starch, she pointed out that it is unable to conclusively establish whether the paneer is fake. Since paneer is manufactured entirely of milk, it shouldn’t include any starch.

Additionally, Dr. Soni pointed out that some commercial producers use starch to enhance texture or add weight. Furthermore, soy additives or batter coatings may skew the iodine values.
