The video of two heavily drunk brats stopped their luxury car at Shastrinagar Chowk, Yerwada, at 8 AM, urinating in public before women, and making obscene gestures as the passenger casually held a liquor bottle and watched went viral on Twitter/X.

The main accused, Gaurav Ahuja, is the son of Pune bar owner Manoj Ahuja, who now claims to be ashamed of him.

Ahuja is a member of a betting syndicate run by Pune-based gangster Sachin Pote and the gang specifically targets college students, luring them into betting activities. Pune Police have arrested Bhagyesh Oswal, a close associate of Gaurav Ahuja. Oswal was reportedly sitting beside Ahuja in the vehicle at the time of the Yerawada incident and was taken into custody from Pune.

The investigation into the incident has also revealed that Gaurav Ahuja and his father, Manoj Ahuja, have been involved in gambling-related businesses, including running a poker game and betting on cricket matches.

Gaurav Ahuja and his father, Manoj have a history of criminal activities. In 2021, Pune Police registered a gambling and kidnapping case against Gaurav at the Viman Nagar Police Station and at the time, he was only 20 years old and was allegedly involved in illegal cricket betting operations.

Authorities have confirmed that Manoj Ahuja was also arrested in connection with illegal gambling activities and investigations suggest that the Ahuja family has invested in the hotel business using gambling profits. Their restaurant, Cream & Kitchen, is located in the Swargate area of Pune.

Why the authorities launched an investigation against Gaurav Ahuja?

When confronted by locals, Gaurav allegedly exposed himself before fleeing the location. Another individual, seated beside him in the car, was reportedly holding a liquor bottle. The incident sparked outrage on social media, prompting the police to examine CCTV footage and trace the vehicle’s registration details. Officials revealed that the luxury car was registered in the name of Manoj Ahuja and confirmed that the driver in question was his son.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 7:30 AM on Saturday. A case has been registered against both Gaurav and the passenger accompanying him, and a police team has been dispatched to locate them. Notably, the duo was last seen heading toward Wagholi. Meanwhile, social activist Vijay Kumbhar alleged that Gaurav was not a first-time offender, describing him as a habitual lawbreaker with a history of exploiting legal loopholes to evade arrest.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Kumbhar claimed that both Gaurav and his father had multiple criminal cases against them, including those related to cricket betting and extortion. He further alleged that they had served jail time in the past. According to Kumbhar, a police officer’s son had been implicated in one of Gaurav’s earlier arrests, raising questions about the sources of his alleged influence. He suggested that the family’s fortunes had been built on illegal lottery businesses.
