Nishant Sindhu became the star grabbing the headlines because of his outstanding performance to power the India U19 Team to beat England to win the record-extending Under-19 World Cup title for the fifth time. Indian Team snatched the trophy by four wickets.
Sindhu performed a significant inning and powered his side with a crucial half-century for the historical win. He took six wickets and scored 90 runs in four matches.
He was appointed as a captain as well as vice-captain of the team for the initial games of the U19 Indian Team. After testing positive for COVID-19, he was forced to stay out against Bangladesh.

Nishant Sindhu, 17-year-old left-hand batsman and slow left armed bowler born on April 09, 2004, from Haryana, is a player for Under-19 Team India is a boxer’s son named Sunil Kumar. He has a height of 5 feet and 5 inches.
Sunil Kumar’s dream was to perform in the Jersey of India but following unfortunate occurrences, he was forced to quit sports. But it wasn’t over for him as after 20 years, he is finally able to live that dream through his 17-year-old son who is now representing Team India in the U-19 category at the ICC Under-19 Men’s World Cup.
“It gives me so much joy to watch him play for India. My dream was always to don the Indian Jersey, which unfortunately I never did,” said Nishant’s proud father.
Nishant Sindhu was very young and attracted to cricket at the age of just three. His father saw him jumping and cheering for Team India and MS Dhoni after they won T20 World Cup in South Africa in the year 2007. After seeing this, his father gave him a plastic bat.
Although Nishant’s father wanted him to follow him, but it seemed he was not interested in boxing.
Seeing India winning ODI World Cup in 2011, Nishant asked his father about playing cricket and was told he is into the sport. Kumar wanted his son to be a spokesperson so he decided to support him for his dreams.
Nishant then joined Shri Ram Narain Cricket Academy when he was just 8. He clenched the headlines for the first team following his outstanding performance where he scored 290 runs along with taking 24 wickets in the U-14 Dhruv Pandove Trophy organised in 2017 in Patiala.
After his successful performance, he was given a place in the Haryana U-16 team. He, in the Vijay Merchant Trophy, scored 280 runs and snatched 16 wickets in 2016-18.
He was appointed as the captain for the Haryana team where his side overpowered Jharkhand to lift the trophy. This earned him a place at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore.
Nishant then entered for the Indian Team U-19 to appear for the Asia Cup and U-19 World Cup where he showed his magical powers.
