Harsh Dubey breaks Ranji Trophy record
Vidarbha star spinner Harsh Dubey recently broke the Ranji Trophy’s all-time record for most wickets in a single season. Dubey set the new record during the final match against Kerela at the VCA Stadium in Jamtha, Nagpur, on Friday, February 28, 2025.
Vidarbha batted first and set a 379-run total earlier in the game. As such, during Kerala’s second innings, Dubey claimed his record-breaking 60th wicket by dismissing Nidheesh MD. He secured a total of three wickets in that innings after earlier dismissing Kerala’s top scorer, Aditya Sarvate, and Kerala’s highest run-scorer of the season Salman Nizar. Dubey managed to beat the previous record held by Bihar’s Ashutosh Aman, who took 68 wickets during the 2018-19 season.

Harsh Dubey has so far had a successful domestic cricket career. The youngster made his List A debut on February 28, 2021, during the 2020-21 Vijay Hazare Trophy for Vidarbha. Harsh then made his Twenty20 debut during the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on November 4, 2021. Dubey also played a major role in Vidarbha’s semi-final victory over Mumbai, where he secured his seventh five-wicket haul of the season.
Aside from his bowling triumphs, Dubey has also showcased his batting prowess. He managed to amass and impressive 472 runs in 17 innings, including five half-centuries this Ranji Trophy season. Following his domestic success, Harsh could very well receive an international call-up.
