Dwarkanath Sanzgiri was an Indian writer, music program host, television presenter, and columnist who lived from November 15, 1950, to February 6, 2025. In a nearly half-century career at the age of 74, Dwarkanath Sanzgiri passed away at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital after a long illness.

“Friends, you must have noticed that I have not been writing in the last fifteen days. The main reason for this is that due to weight loss, my muscles have also reduced and it is difficult to sit in one place and one position. Due to this, three things have happened: concentration has decreased, reading and writing have decreased,” Dwarkanath Sanjhgiri had said in an earlier post and also wrote further that he needed help in writing in such a situation.
As a journalist, author, TV host, and music program host, Dwarkanath Sanzgiri established himself. Sanzgiri wrote for numerous periodicals and newspapers during the course of a career that lasted almost 50 years. In addition to writing in English and a few other regional languages, Sanzgiri’s primary language was Marathi.

Dwarkanath Sanzgiri was born in the Hindu Colony of Mumbai on November 15, 1950. He attended the King George School and Ram Narayan Ruia College before enrolling at VJTI, Matunga, to study civil engineering. Details about his family and relationship status aren’t known.

Dwarkanath Sanzgiri career
Dwarkanath Sanzgiri retired as the Chief Engineer of the Water Supply Project for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation in 2008, having had a successful dual career as an engineer and a writer.
Beginning his writing career in the late 1970s, Sanzgiri frequently contributed to periodicals like Dinank and Shri. He was the executive editor of the sports magazine “Ech Shatkar,” which he co-founded after India won the 1983 World Cup.
His captivating travelogues and sports essays were frequently featured in magazines like “Mid-Day,” “Loksatta,” and “Aaj Dati.” He wrote 40 books on sports, travel, and social topics over his career, and he has covered every One Day International Cricket World Cup since 1983. Sanzgiri also presented the sports show ‘Bollandaji,’ hosted more than a thousand one-man stand-up acts, and made several TV appearances as a cricket analyst.
