Travis Scott’s career
Travis Scott and one of his classmates, OG Chess, created the band The Classmates the next year. The Classmates put out two albums: Cruis’n USA in 2010 and Buddy Rich in 2009. For both projects, Scott was primarily in charge of production. The pair stayed together until the group’s dissolution in late 2012 due to personal and financial issues.
Following graduation from college, Scott relocated from Houston to New York City’s Washington Heights, where he started working with friend Mike Waxx, the owner of the music website Illroots.
Scott gave a performance at the 2024 Grammy Awards on February 4, 2024. Scott sang “My Eyes,” “Fein,” and “I Know?” from the Rap Album of the Year-nominated Utopia. Playboi Carti, who appears on the album version of the song, joined him for his performance of “Fein.” However, Scott’s reference to his ten nominations without a win at the award presentation that year generated controversy.
