Laureus World Sports Awards is an award function that comes every year to honour individuals and teams from the sports fraternity for their achievements in the field and what they have done the whole year.

What Are Are The Laureus World Sports Awards And Meaning

The name of the award show is services from the Greek word “laurel” which is regarded as a symbol of victory in athletics traditionally.

The award is presented by Laureus Sport for Good Foundation and the Swiss tennis legend and 20-times Grand Slam champion Roger Federer has won most of it recording 6 in which, 5 comprises for “Sportsman of the year” while the other one us for “Comeback of the year.”  Lionel Messi is the first footballer to have won this award in 2020.

This year’s awards include sports from Tokyo Olympics, Paralympics, Euro 2022, Grand Slams and many more.

Last year, Rafael Nadal, Naomi Osaka, Bayern Munich, Max Parrot and Lewis Hamilton grabbed the awards.

Venue 

The award ceremony is hosted every year in different venues all around the world. Last time it was held Virtually in Seville. With the high success of the previous virtual event and looking at the COVID-19 situations, this year’s award will also be held virtually in April.

The live stream will be available on the official YouTube channel while there is no information on the prize money if any given to the winners.
