Renato Moicano signed a contract with the UFC on December 12, 2014 and was set to take Rony Jason’s place against Tom Niinimaki with ten days’ notice. It was revealed on March 14, 2016, that Moicano would compete against Zubaira Tukhugov at UFC 198 for his second appearance in the UFC. Despite being the underdog, he prevailed by split decision.

On July 29, 2017, Moicano fought Brian Ortega at UFC 214. In the third round, he was submitted via guillotine choke. The Fight of the Night bonus was obtained for this battle. On August 4, 2018, Moicano took on Cub Swanson at UFC 227. He submitted with a rear naked choke to win the bout.
