Abbie Stockard, a 22-year-old nursing student from Alabama, was crowned Miss America 2025 during the pageant held at the Walt Disney Theatre in Orlando, Florida, on January 5, 2025. Abbie was born to Brad and Kim Stockard in Vestavia Hills, Alabama in a Christian family, and grew up with her twin brother, Bradley, and younger sister, Lilly. She shared that her passion for pageantry was inspired by her mother, who worked multiple jobs and introduced her to the annual competitions. Abbie mentioned that she had always dreamed of inspiring others, just as the contestants she watched with her mother had done for her.
Currently a nursing student student at the Auburn University, Abbie is working towards a doctorate in nurse anesthesia, with a focus on pediatrics. She explained her commitment to raising awareness for cystic fibrosis, a cause that is personal to her due to her best friend Maddie’s struggle with the disease. Having danced since she was two, Abbie used her dance skills during her pageant competitions, including Miss Alabama and Miss America.
She had first been crowned Miss Alabama in June 2024, which led her to the Miss America competition. Abbie is in a relationship with Utah Jazz center Walker Kessler, though the details of how they met were not clear. After her Miss America win, Kessler congratulated her on Instagram, expressing his pride and admiration for her dedication and hard work.
