In a recent interview, Bethany Willment, the new First Team Lead Therapist, spoke about her experience since joining the Tamworth FC. She mentioned that the club had welcomed her with open arms, and she was very grateful. She admitted that joining a club with such success, including gaining promotion and winning the league, could feel daunting, but she appreciated the support and responsiveness of the staff to the changes she had made in her role as the new therapist.

In a captivating clash that saw the underdogs defy the odds, Tamworth FC demonstrated incredible grit and determination as they faced Premier League giants Hotspur in the third round of the FA Cup. Despite being separated by a staggering 96 places in the footballing hierarchy, the part-time team from Tamworth gave their illustrious opponents a real fight by taking the match into extra time before losing 0-3.

How will Bethany handle her role in Tamworth?

Beth also shared her excitement about the appointment of Alex Howell as the new First Team Strength and Conditioning Coach. She described working alongside him as amazing, noting his vast knowledge. Beth revealed that she had graduated with a degree in Sports Therapy from Plymouth Marjon University in 2020 and had gained significant experience over the past four years.

She had worked as the Lead Therapist for the Plymouth City Patriots basketball team and collaborated with other local sports clubs, including Plymouth Argyle and Plymouth Diving Club. She also mentioned that during her time on the south coast, she had developed a close friendship with Tim Dudding, the First Team Coach and newly appointed Academy Manager at Tamworth. This connection led to her being offered a trial and, later, a role with the Lambs.

Additionally, she explained that her move to the Midlands was driven by her desire for more professional opportunities. Beth had gone on to work as a Sports Therapy Technical Demonstrator at the University of Worcester, where she still hosts student and placement events. She is also currently working on gaining further qualifications with the aim of building a future career in Higher Education.

Beth stated that due to her various commitments, she would be focusing solely on the First Team, working with the squad before, during, and after training sessions on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as well as on matchdays. Beth received a warm welcome from the club, and everyone looked forward to working alongside her as the team continued its progress in the National League.
