Know all details about the 2025 International Kite Festival along with its dates and timings, which will kick-off on 13th January in Hyderabad

The International Kite Festival 2025 officially commenced in Ahmedabad on Saturday, with Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launching the festivities by releasing a tricolor balloon into the sky, symbolizing national pride. This vibrant, three-day event, held at the iconic Sabarmati Riverfront from January 11 to 14, has attracted ambassadors from 11 different countries. In addition to the main event in Ahmedabad, the festival will extend to other notable locations across India with the International Kite and Sweet Festival set to take place in Hyderabad starting tomorrow.

The much-awaited 7th International Kite Festival will take place in Hyderabad from January 13 to 15, coinciding with the Sankranti festival.

The festival will feature kite displays every day from 10 am to 8 pm with entry free for all visitors.

Organized by the state’s tourism and cultural department, this vibrant event will be held at Parade Grounds and promises to be an exciting experience for kite enthusiasts of all ages. This festival will feature an impressive array of kite flyers, with over 50 international participants hailing from countries such as Indonesia, Switzerland, Australia, Sri Lanka, Canada, Cambodia, Scotland, Thailand, South Korea, the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Taiwan, South Africa, and the Netherlands.

In addition, 60 local kite flyers from states including Gujarat, Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana will add to the festivities. Kite displays will take place daily from 10 am to 8 pm, offering an enchanting spectacle for visitors. Organizers have made provisions for visitors’ comfort, setting up shamiana tents and drinking water facilities throughout the venue.

In addition to the kite displays, there will be a special sweets festival where traditional dishes and sweets from across India will be featured. The event will host around 1,100 national and international sweets and flour-based dishes at various stalls. Notably, 700 homemakers from Iran, Turkey, Afghanistan, and nine other countries will participate, offering a delightful array of treats.

For the little ones, there will be dedicated play areas, ensuring that families can enjoy a full day of activities. With an anticipated crowd of around 1.5 million visitors over the three days, the festival promises to be a spectacular celebration of culture, food, and kite flying. Best of all, entry to the festival is free for everyone to enjoy. In line with the festival’s festivities, Hyderabad police have banned kite flying in and around places of worship for safety reasons.
