For the curious, the Red and Blues announced on Wednesday that Dan Șucu has acquired a 77% share of the club by investing €45 million, equivalent to $47.2 million, effectively reducing the shares of previous owners to minority status.

Șucu, who also holds a 90% stake in the Romanian team Rapid Bucharest, is expected to bring financial stability to the Italian club.

Previous Owners

The Griffin was previously owned by 777 Partners, who acquired them three years ago after Genoa spent 18 years under the ownership of Enrico Preziosi.

The club is currently 13th in Serie A, two points above the relegation zone, and has remained unbeaten since appointing Patrick Vieira as coach last month.

Born on April 25, 1963, Dan Șucu is an entrepreneur and a prominent figure in Romania’s business landscape. He is best known as the founder of Mobexpert, the country’s largest furniture brand, which has more than 2,200 employees.

The 61-year-old entrepreneur has also developed hotels, residential centers, and hospitals. The alumni of Politehnica University of Bucharest has expanded into the electronics and IT sectors.

Dan Șucu was married to a businesswoman and entrepreneur Camelia Şucu, with whom he parted ways in 2007. Though, there isn’t any information about his children, however, media reports claim that the businessman has two kids.
