A 20-year-old California man named Alexander Paffendorf is currently being held for allegedly plotting with the Madison school shooter, adding a new dimension to the investigation into a mass shooting at a Wisconsin school.

In relation to this week’s horrific incident at Abundant Life Christian School, Alexander Paffendorf, of Carlsbad, California, is accused of planning to carry out a mass shooting against a government building. Other than telling the FBI about his relationship with Rupnow, not much is known about Paffendorf apart from the fact that the 20 year old hails from California and his father is named Andrew.

Alexander Paffendorf was arrested after confessing that he had told 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow about his violent plans, according to court documents. Paffendorf allegedly sent communications to Rupnow, who shot and killed one student and one instructor while wounding six others, outlining his plans to equip himself with weapons and explosives for a coordinated attack.
Alexander Paffendorf, a 20-year-old from Carlsbad, California plans were reportedly coordinated with Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow and during an FBI interview, Paffendorf admitted to communicating with Rupnow about arming himself with explosives and a firearm to target a government facility.
Paffendorf is set to appear in court on January 3, wherein the authorities will detail all the information about his implication in the plot.

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes told the Journal Sentinel that he was not aware of the arrest and referred inquiries to the FBI and Wisconsin authorities have not yet provided more comment.
After a San Diego judge on Tuesday granted a restraining order requiring Paffendorf to turn over all firearms and ammo, the California arrest took place. Additionally, he is not allowed to purchase any new weaponry. Law officials swarmed Paffendorf’s Carlsbad apartment complex within hours of the judge’s ruling, and neighbors claimed to have seen a heated altercation.
“I would arm myself with explosives and a gun and target a government building,” Paffendorf allegedly told Rupnow, as cited in the emergency gun violence restraining order.

There are still unanswered concerns regarding Paffendorf’s relationship with Rupnow, who was reportedly persuaded to carry out the shooting at the Christian school by him. While some Twitter/X users have claimed he was her e-boyfriend and ran the account which goes by Kristallin on the platform, this hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. His court appearance is scheduled for January 3. Although reports indicate that only one weapon was used in the incident, Rupnow, a freshman at Abundant Life Christian School, had brought two handguns to school on Monday.
