Check out the meaning of most valuable primate
On Day 2 of the ongoing third Test in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT), former England women’s team captain Isa Guha apologized to Jasprit Bumrah live on television for her “primate” comment about the India pacer.
What is the meaning of ‘Most Valuable Primate’ in English and Hindi as Isa Guha apologizes to Jasprit Bumrah for comment
At the Brisbane Gabba, Isa Guha, an Englishwoman of Indian descent, uttered a racially offensive insult following Bumrah’s dismissal of the Australian openers. Guha’s remarks followed Brett Lee, her co-commentator and a former bowler for Australia, giving Bumrah a lot of plaudits following his first two wickets.
“Bumrah, today: five overs, 2/4. So, that’s the tone, and that’s what you want from the ex-skipper,” Lee said on air.
To which Guha replied, “Well, he’s the MVP, isn’t he? Most valuable primate, Jasprit Bumrah.”
A primate is any animal that belongs to the group that includes humans, monkeys and animals like monkeys without a tail (apes) which lead many to believe that Isa was being racist towards Bumrah as she called him a primate due to his skin color and origin despite being an Indian herself.
The former England cricket player received harsh criticism for his remarks on social media. Guha quickly apologized and took back her remarks the following day after realizing her error.

On Day 3 of the Test match, Isa Guha apologized live on television with former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri and Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist by her side.
“Yesterday in commentary I used a word that can be interpreted in a number of different ways. I’d like to apologise for any offence caused. I set myself really high standards when it comes to empathy and respect of others. If you listen to the full transcript, I only meant the highest praise for one of India’s greatest players,” Isa Guha.
Shastri, who is also commentating on the current BGT, praised Guha for admitting her error and apologizing live on television. He highlighted that she is a courageous woman and it takes a lot of fortitude to apologize live on television.
