After Subhash tragically took his own life by hanging himself at his Bengaluru apartment, his brother Bikas Kumar filed a complaint against four individuals, which the Bengaluru police converted into an FIR and names Subhash’s wife, Nikita Singhania, her mother, Nisha Singhania, her brother, Anurag Singhania, and her uncle, Sushil Singhania, under sections 108 and 3(5) of the BNS.
Atul was living in Bengaluru and was earning Rs 84,000 per month and the family court had ordered him to pay Rs 40,000 per month in maintenance for the minor son. Atul was left with Rs 44,000 per month to fend for himself and his family including the rentals in Bengaluru.
“They’re not shocked, they’re not grieving, they’re not even trying to defend themselves properly. Instead, they’re attacking reporters, showing their arrogance, and acting like they’re above it all,” wrote an X (formerly Twitter) user in response to Atul Subhash’s in-laws reacting aggressively when approached by reporters. A video of the same has been doing the rounds online.

“He had told us that the mediation court was not working according to the law or Supreme Court guidelines. He had to travel to Jaunpur from Bengaluru at least 40 times. She (his wife) kept filing one case after another. He must have been deeply frustrated but never shared his pain with us,” his father said.
“He never told anyone what he was going through. He kept it all to himself,” his mother said.
Why Atul Subhash committed suicide?
According to Subhash’s suicide note, his wife, her relatives, and a judge encouraged him to commit suicide and harassed him. His family has supported these allegations and called for a comprehensive inquiry.
“The accusations he made are absolutely true,” his father declared. Based on the evidence found in Subhash’s home and the contents of the suicide note, police have started looking into the matter.

On Monday, Atul Subhash’s body was discovered in his Bengaluru residence in the Manjunath Layout neighbourhood. The 34-year-old Uttar Pradesh technician clarified claims of harassment and extortion against his wife and her family in a 90-minute video and a 24-page suicide note that he left behind.
According to reports, Atul shared his note with a WhatsApp group of an NGO he was affiliated with and forwarded it to a number of individuals via email. Subhash also asked for his parents to be given custody of his child in his death note, claiming that they could “provide better values.”
