Earlier, during Fiorentina’s Serie A clash against Intern Milan, the 22-year-old midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on Sunday. The tragic incident took place during the 16th minute in the game at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

As aforesaid, during the 16th minute in the game, Bove fell to the ground unchallenged while appearing to tie his shoelaces. Witnessing him collapsed, referee Daniele Doveri immediately halted play, allowing medical staff to tend to the player as teammates and opponents formed a protective circle around him.
Several players from both teams were spotted visibly emotional during the distressing scene.

Bove was rushed off the pitch in an ambulance, prompting the match to be suspended. Players retreated to their dressing rooms while he was transported to Florence’s Careggi hospital.
Fiorentina later issued a statement confirming Bove was under pharmacological sedation in intensive care. Initial cardio-logical and neurological tests ruled out acute damage to the central nervous or cardio-respiratory systems.
Reportedly, age 22 midfielder Bove regained consciousness at the hospital after being placed in a medically induced coma, and doctors assured his condition was not life-threatening with him currently awake and talking to his parents and girlfriend Martina who are at the hospital.
A statement by the club read read, “ACF Fiorentina and the Careggi University Hospital have announced that footballer Edoardo Bove, who was treated on the pitch following a loss of consciousness during the Fiorentina v Inter match, is currently under sedation and is hospitalised in intensive care.”
His dad Giovanni and girlfriend Martina attended the hospital straight away but his devastated mum Tanya later attended the emergency room after regaining consciousness, along with the mayor of Florence, Sara Funaro. Bove has suffered no brain or heart damage after losing consciousness during the match.
Fiorentina teammates, including captain Cristiano Biraghi, Martinez Quarta, and others, visited him at the hospital to show support.

Bove’s family and loved ones were present during the ordeal. His parents and girlfriend, Martina, joined him at the hospital. Nothing else is known about his girlfriend at the moment.

Bove, on loan at Fiorentina from Roma, has made 14 appearances this season, scoring his first goal against his parent club in October. A regular at youth levels for Italy, he has yet to receive a senior call-up.
