The video of Jan Zelezny setting the javelin throw world record has gone viral
For the past 28 years, Jan Zelezny, a triple Olympic and world champion, has held the world record of 98.48 meters.
As the new season begins, Neeraj Chopra appears to have gotten the ideal push. The Sports Authority of India said on Saturday that the 26-year-old’s new coach, Czech javelin legend Jan Zelezny, had teamed up with the two-time Olympic and World Championship medallist.

58-year-old, Czech Jan Zelezny has been mentoring his nation’s top javelin throwers. The sole Olympic track and field champion from India seems to have made a well-considered choice as he renews his attempt to reach the coveted 90-meter mark by training for a month in Pochefstroom, South Africa.
In addition to two world championship medals (gold in 2023 Budapest and silver in 2022 Eugene), Chopra won a historic gold at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics and a silver in Paris. Klaus Bartonietz, a German biomechanics specialist, was responsible for these achievements.
After Paris, when Chopra missed the 90-meter mark and Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan won gold with an Olympic record of 92.97 meters, that connection came to an end.
Following his announcement that he was delaying surgery for a chronic groin ailment in favour of managing the condition heading into the new Olympic cycle, the Indian was anticipated to reveal a new coaching partnership.
Neeraj Chopra has found inspiration in Jan Zelezny, therefore the two working together is a logical next step for the Indian team. Zelezny is credited with helping Chopra develop his throwing technique, and like the Czech great, the Indian is renowned for his exceptional consistency under duress.
