But, fact-checkers on the internet quickly pointed out that the footage was from 2023 and that the man in the video was definitely not Liam Payne.

According to a statement, the hotel management reported hearing a loud boom at the back of the establishment. When police came, they discovered that a man had fallen from his room over the balcony. The British singer was believed to have been discovered in the hotel’s internal patio. Emergency personnel verified him dead.

Payne “had jumped from the balcony of his room,” according to the Buenos Aires Security Ministry, which spoke with the Associated Press. Upon arriving at the scene, medical personnel pronounced Payne deceased, citing “extremely serious injuries.”

The Argentina National Prosecutor’s Office released a news release stating that Payne’s cause of death was “polytrauma and internal and external bleeding.”

On social media, the British music awards, streaming service Spotify, and US music channel MTV all shared their condolences for the deceased and offered their support to his family and loved ones. In 2017, Payne and British TV personality and Girls Aloud singer Cheryl welcomed a son, Bear.
