Neetu Lawrence David is an Indian former cricketer who was born on September 1, 1977, in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. She is presently 47 years old and serves as the current chairperson of the selection panel of the India women’s cricket team. Neetu made her debut for India at the young age of 17, back in 1995, and made major strides with her bowling skills.

Throughout her career, Neetu became a cornerstone of the Indian women’s cricket team, mainly playing as a slow left-arm orthodox bowler. She was renowned for her record-breaking 8/53 in the women’s Test cricket, and also became India’s first female bowler to surpass 100 wickets in ODI cricket. Neetu currently serves as the chairman of selectors for the India women’s team.

Throughout her career, Neetu appeared in 10 Test matches and 97 One Day Internationals for India between the years 1995-2008. One of her most memorable moments of her career was when she set incredible bowling figures of 8/53. She set the figures during her set against England during a Test match at Jamshedpur. The record still stands unbeaten today in women’s Test cricket. Neetu played a total of 10 Tests, capturing 41 wickets, and 97 ODI matches, where she took 141 wickets.

She is India’s second-highest wicket-taker in the women’s ODIs. She was also the first Indian female cricketer who managed to cross the 100-wicket milestone in ODI cricket.
