Police stated that although they have not yet determined the reason, their investigation has shown that members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang were responsible for the murder.
According to sources, the Mumbai Crime Branch has identified Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar as the fourth suspect and he was taken into custody in Pune on Sunday night.
Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar, is thought to have coordinated with the gunmen from outside by giving them vital information about Siddique’s location and logistical help, such as setting up lodging for them.
Zeeshan hails from Shakar village in Nakodar of Punjab and there are nine cases, ranging from attempt to murder, dacoity, and robbery to extortion registered against him.
Around two years ago, 21 year old Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar from Jalandhar , Punjab was arrested by the local police and met the members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang in Patiala jail and when he was released, he went to Mumbai. Akhtar was the handler of Baba Siddique’s shooters and giving them directions from outside and when Siddiqui was shot, Akhtar was giving information to the shooters about his location.
Akhtar lives in Nakodar, Jalandhar’s Shakar village. He was freed on June 7, 2024, after being detained earlier in 2022 on charges of robbery, murder, and organized crime. He got orders to kill Siddiqui from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang while he was incarcerated in the Patiala Jail.
A day after the event, the Lawrence Bishnoi gang claimed responsibility for Siddique’s death. A close gang comrade named Shubham Lonkar used social media to take credit for the attack in a Facebook post.

Why Lawrence Bishnoi wants to kill Salman Khan?
A concerning picture is painted by Lawrence Bishnoi’s criminal past, which starts with a murder attempt and progresses through a number of offenses connected to student politics.
He is currently being held at Sabarmati Central Jail on suspicion of leading gang activities from within, which includes a planned attempt to harm Salman Khan because of the actor’s connection to the 1998 blackbuck hunting case.
While “Hum Saath Saath Hain” was being filmed, Khan was accused of hunting and killing two blackbucks. Salman Khan has been the target of constant threats from the Bishnoi community and its allies ever since.
