The video of Ram Gopal Mishra of Bahraich has gone viral after his death

A 22-year-old boy named Ram Gopal Mishra was shot and killed on Sunday during a dispute between the village’s residents about music being played during a procession. They stated that perhaps six additional people had been hurt by the shooting and stone-throwing.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, condemned the violence and declared that those responsible for the murder of Ram Gopal Mishra would not be spared. The tragedy happened as the procession carrying an idol of Goddess Durga for immersion was going through Mahrajganj Bazar in Mansoor village.

While strolling beside the group, Ram Gopal Mishra, a resident of Rehua Mansoor village, was shot dead in Uttar Pradesh. One of his family members reported that after being taken to the hospital, he passed away while receiving treatment.

Ram Gopal Mishra, 22, of Rehua Mansoor who was a Brahmin Hindu had gotten married only two months back and leaves behind his wife, sister and parents. Meanwhile a video has gone viral on Ram Gopal Mishra upsurping an Islamic flag from a Muslim family’s home.

According to an eye witness, Abdul Hameedโ€™s sons, Mohd Rinku and Sablu, demanded that the Durga Puja music be turned off adn when the Yatra participants refused, the procession was attacked with stones, escalating the situation into violence. This is yet to be officially asserted though by the police.

A case has been registered against 10 people including Abdul Hameed, Sarfaraz, Faheem, Share Khan, Nanakau and Marf Ali, while some unknown people have been named as well.

After the killing, there was a great deal of communal animosity in the region. Similar processions in the town of Fakharpur and a few other locations were called off. But Adityanath gave the government instructions, saying, “Idol immersion must continue. Get in touch with religious institutions and complete the idol immersion on schedule.”

Additionally, he gave the police orders to place personnel at the immersion sites. In the village, police were present.

Mahsi outpost in-charge Shiv Kumar and head of Hardi Police Station SK Verma were suspended in response to the disturbances during the idol immersion in Bahraich. ย In response to the police officers’ apparent negligence during the event, the Superintendent of Police (SP) has initiated action against them.

One casualty from the flare-up has been confirmed by UP DGP Prashant Kumar, who also mentioned that occasional arson occurrences have been reported in nearby areas including Gonda and Balrampur.


“DIG Devipattan, Amarendra Pratap Singh, and ADG Gorakhpur zone, KS Pratap Kumar, have been dispatched to the incident site with additional forces to control the situation,” the DGP mentioned.

In response to the unrest during the idol immersion in Bahraich, Hardi Police Station head SK Verma and Mahsi outpost in-charge Shiv Kumar were suspended due to negligence.

Meanwhile, news of Ram Gopal Mishra’s death sparked outrage among local villagers, who vandalised vehicles with violence sparking during his funeral.

A heavy contingent of police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) was deployed in the village, accompanied by senior officers, including SP Bahraich Vrinda Shukla, DIG Amarendra Prasad Singh, and divisional commissioner Shashi Bhushan Lal.
